It’s been few weeks now China struggling with the deadly Corona Virus outbreak. Chinese economy is taking a major blow as majority of the manufacturing units are still on extended new year holiday. There is no words of hope for China. Nobody knows how long this crisis will continue.
Apple stores in China closed for an uncertain period. Previously sources confirmed the production will not take any major blow. Apple had a strong Q4 with the iPhone 11 dominating global sales. But the company’s Q1 sales have taken a sharp U-turn due to the COVID-19 outbreak, says analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
He forecasts a 10 percent decrease in shipments this year fro Apple. Which could be down to 36-40 million units for the first quarter of 2020. Though Foxconn assured last week that production will not be affected due to Corona Virus Outbreak. (iPhone camera parts and other components are made in Foxconn’s factory in Wuhan, the center of the outbreak).
It’s not just the current models that are getting the push back. The so-called iPhone 9 (aka SE 2) was supposed to start production this month in preparation for a launch in March. However, it now looks like the initial supply will be limited. Apple accessories like the AirPods could be affected too. Already all the major mobile tech companies are also foreseeing a possible shortage of accessories from China due to this Coronavirus outbreak.
